Cardinal Kicks-off the effort
A Northern Cardinal is the first bird recorded for the contest, singing at 5:52 AM in my backyard. We won't be skunked on day one after all! Squarely at one species prior to 6AM on day one. Not bad!

Actually, I had a Common Nighthawk singing around 3:00 this morning...
